New Zealand Scones

Judy L., Whitianga, New Zealand makes scones that you'll rave about!

  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 oz. butter
  • pinch of Cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • about 1 cup of milk
  • 1 TBS chopped garlic (optional)
  • 2 TBS crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Sift the dry ingredients together, add the butter and 3/4 cup cheese. Add milk and mix into soft dough. Roll or pat dough into scones and place 1" apart on a baking sheet. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Bake at 220 Celsius (350 F) and bake until golden.
